FAQ's section

What roles will I be likely to do as part of the Graduate Scheme?

As part of the 3-4 year Marketing scheme, you will do around three roles.  These roles could be based in any of our Head Office business units.  In the past this has included positions in our Retail Marketing department, as part of the Human Resources team, as an Area Business Manager or in the Logistics division.

For Engineering Graduates, you will initially be based at one of our UK refineries for the 4-year programme where you will work on a variety of projects.

Why not take a look at the Profiles section of the website for some real life insights from some of our Graduates?

What is the closing date for applications?

Mid-January - please click on the 'apply now' link within the Application process section for specific closing dates.

How many in-takes do you have per year for the Graduate Scheme?

One in-take per year in September.

Do I need to be able to speak French?

Not necessarily, although it is desirable.  You will however, need to be willing to learn and to attend classes which we run in-house.

What if I can’t apply on-line?

Hard copy application forms are available – please email the recruitment mailbox rm.gb-mb-graduate-recruitment@total.co.uk with your postal address or telephone 01923 694000 and ask for the Recruitment department. We can also supply forms in large print or braille on request.

What should I wear to the interview?

The company dress code is smart / casual but remember you are here to make a good first impression!

If I’m not successful at interview, can I get feedback on my performance?

Yes, our telephone interviewers will be able to give you feedback, as will the recruitment team after the assessment day.

Do you offer support for further study if I want to do a qualification?

Yes, we operate an Educational Assistance policy, which means we will sponsor you to do a qualification if you wish to specialise in a particular area after you have completed the Graduate Scheme. For Engineers on the Graduate Programme, the Refineries have a structure in place to help you achieve Chartered status should you wish to do so.
