Statutory Consultation of MCP-01 Decommissioning Programme
From 9th March to 25th April 2005
On behalf of the owners of the MCP-01 facility, TOTAL E&P UK PLC launched on 9th March 2005 the statutory consultation of the MCP-01 Decommissioning lasting to 25th April 2005. By clicking here you can download the full Decommissioning Programme (pdf 5,608 KB).
Because the UK and Norwegian authorities have decided to take a joint approach to the decommissioning of MCP-01, under the provision of the Frigg Treaty, the UK’s usual 30-day consultation period has been extended to 45 days to accommodate Norwegian practice who would normally have longer consultation period.
The recommended disposal arrangements for the MCP-01 facilities based on a thorough comparative assessment of all the options, are as follows:
- the topsides facilities to be removed to shore for disposal,
- the concrete substructure should be suitably marked and left in place following the removal of the external steelwork, and
- as much of the equipment and materials removed as practicable will be reused or recycled.
The document is quite lengthy and will take time to read through. We have therefore made a Fact Sheet No. 2 summarising the main elements in the Decommissioning Programme.
