Innovative Computing

The unique position of the GRC as a research organisation allows us to build links with other computing research organisations and also to be experimental in our use of computing. For instance, we are currently involved in a project on Grid computing. This technology looks to provide computational power and data storage on demand by linking together distributed computing resources. Dynamic flow simulation and seismic processing and modelling are computationally demanding, and grid-computing technology provides many opportunities for these applications.

We are currently conducting tests on the EGEE Grid, which is the world largest international scientific Grid. For more information on the Grid see http://gridcafe.web.cern.ch/gridcafe.
