What we do
TOTAL has a global presence in this sector, especially across the natural gas chain and our UK-based operations play a key role.
Gas & Power covers the marketing and trading of natural gas, liquefied natural gas (LNG) and power, the trading of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), natural gas transportation and storage, as well as LNG re-gasification. The group also includes power generation from combined cycle gas plants and renewable energies as well as the production and sale of coal.
We are also a leading European gas, electricity and liquefied natural gas trader, marketing gas and power both in the UK and on the Continent – providing access to both the traded and end-users’ markets.

Trading
Trading provides European gas and power consumers with a secure, competitively priced supply. We create value by balancing the need to capitalise on upstream production with buyer expectations – buyers who include our own marketing subsidiaries who want to ensure energy supplies at the best prices.
As these markets have become more open and flexible, we’ve introduced new ways of balancing supply and demand, creating pricing formulae and hedging instruments.
Our trading teams are expert in managing specific physical price and credit. They have pioneered natural gas trading products that enable customers to protect themselves against market fluctuations.
Customers who want to take advantage of market conditions while carefully managing their costs have access to fixed prices or prices indexed to the most relevant indicator – such as fuel oil, diesel, International Petroleum Exchange (IPE) and Zeebrugge – or other instruments such as swaps, caps and collars.

Our industrial and commercial sales activities are handled by TOTAL Gas & Power. Established for over 20 years, TOTAL Gas & Power is the largest industrial and commercial natural gas supplier in the UK (according to Cornwall Energy Consultants, April 2011).
TOTAL Gas & Power are a specialist provider of energy to UK businesses. With customers across the entire commercial and industrial spectrum, about 50,000 sites are supplied with over two billion therms of TOTAL Gas & Power’s natural gas.

Customers enjoy the range of product solutions offered by TOTAL Gas & Power – from fixed price contracts for SMEs (smaller business users) who require complete budget certainty, to totally flexible solutions for dedicated energy buyers, enabling buyers to retain full control of their energy purchasing strategy.
A complete suite of energy management solutions including Automated Meter Reading (AMR) is also available from TOTAL Gas & Power, driving energy efficiency and ultimately, driving costs down.
Since 2001, TOTAL Gas & Power have also been supplying power to business users and have expanded the number of power solutions to offer Green Power or Cleaner Power.
