Forvie / grant
An exploration well spudded in February 2002 led to a new discovery in June 2002 in the Alwyn Area – Forvie North. The Forvie gas and condensate find is in Block 3/15, 440 km north-east of Aberdeen. It lies 16km from the Dunbar platform and 33km from the Alwyn North platforms.
The discovery was made at a depth of 3,560m in a water depth of 120m. Forvie North was brought onstream in December 2005. It is connected to North Alwyn platform through new subsea infrastructure, installed to cater for this new development and other potential satellite fields.
Grant is located in Block 3/14, approximately 9km from Dunbar. It was discovered in 1977 and came onstream in 1988. In April 2006, Grant production was re-routed from Dunbar to Alwyn North via the Forvie pipeline.
The Forvie and Grant fields form part of the Alwyn Area, which also comprises Alwyn North, Dunbar, Ellon and Nuggets fields. These fields produce a combined total of 150,000 barrels of oil equivalent a day.
The success at Forvie has strengthened Total’s activities in the UK North Sea and confirms our strategy to apply selective criteria to exploration prospects in the mature UKCS.
