TOTAL UK HISTORY
The TOTAL brand has been marketed
in the UK since 1955 and was set up as Total Oil Great
Britain Ltd (TOGB) originally formed as part of the
French Total SA group. It quickly established itself
as an innovative petrol retailer increasing its number
of service stations at a rapid rate.
It also developed a large network of Authorised Distributors
and obtained a lubricant plant at Ferrybridge, West
Yorkshire, and quickly built up a reputation for a
large range of quality products.
In 1965 TOGB was involved with PetroFina in the construction
and operation of a new refinery on the south bank of
the Humber near Killingholme, Lincolnshire. TOGB developed
into an impressive downstream operation and built up
a reputation for customer service and quality of products.
Most of the fuel was transported around the country
by rail to its three 100% owned regional fuel terminals. |
